Since 2014 Phil Collier Associates has been providing professional business solutions to small businesses across the South West Cumbria and the wider UK.
What we do
We are a leading Cumbrian business support provider, offering a range of solutions from HR and people management, through business strategy and growth, to training, quality management systems and project management.
With over 35 years’ experience in the corporate sector, our director, Phil Collier, has held a number of senior in-house roles, including Fleet HR Director at ship owner James Fisher & Sons, sitting on the Employment Committee at the UK Chamber of Shipping and as a director of national training provider, Ship Safe Training Group.
Phil left James Fisher at the end of 2009 to form his own company, TurnstoneHR, providing HR and crewing advice and support to a wide range of businesses in both the marine sector and locally in the north west of England. Having built a solid portfolio of clients and grown to a team of eleven staff and consultants, Phil sold TurnstoneHR to his staff on 1 July 2014, setting up Phil Collier Associates in the process.
Phil is an active small business advocate and works on numerous local campaigns to support both the people and the businesses in his local community. Since November 2011 he has been the respected and trusted Chairman of the Furness Branch of the Federation of Small Businesses, Vice-Chair of the FSB’s Lancashire & Cumbria Region and has latterly taken up the FSB role of Area Lead for Cumbria.
His broad range of experience gives him the ability to provide objective advice and support whilst taking ownership of his clients’ aims and objectives in a truly hands-on way.

Meet the Team

Having moved from Liverpool to Barrow-in-Furness in 2000, he became Fleet HR Director for one the UK’s leading shipping companies, James Fisher & Sons PLC. Leaving the security of the corporate world in 2009, Phil then set up his own company, TurnstoneHR, building this to a team of eleven staff and consultants before moving on to set up Phil Collier Associates to provide a broader range of support to businesses.

Nicola’s career has been spent in management and business development, predominantly in the education and training sector, working both in senior management positions and running her own training company. More recently, she is supporting local businesses with HR advice. Nicola also has vast experience of government funding and tendering and project management.

At PCA, our Associates are specialists in their respective fields and some of the UK’s leading experts. Our team ranges from experienced HR practitioners and workplace training instructors to quality management professionals, project managers and R&D accountants.
