Phil initially came into LDF as the project manager responsible for delivering our brand new facility on the Beehive Business Park in Ulverston. Phil was instrumental in steering us through the entire project from gaining planning permission right through to practical completion. Phil’s management of the project was absolutely priceless to LDF not just in terms of delivering a site that exceeded our expectations, but in enabling the other directors to continue driving the business forward, with the confidence that the new site was in the safest of hands. Across that period Phil became involved in various other areas of the business, fast becoming the person capable of offering crucial advise from an outside perspective. Our agreement with Phil is the best money we have spent in a long time. I didn’t know quite how much we needed him until I considered how many phone calls and emails I had made to him in the first month! We started our agreement with Phil in January/February 2020. Then Covid-19 arrived and HR considerations, support, advice, guidance were needed on a whole new scale. The first national lockdown was a difficult and scary period but one thing I didn’t worry about was HR. When the news of a national lockdown was announced we made plans; we consulted with Phil; he told us the things we hadn’t thought of; he drafted all the very many staff letters for the vast array of circumstances and situations; he did more letters as things changed; he sent regular updates as legislation changed (this was translated into easy to understand bullet points); and he was available with words of reassurance and answers to the myriad of questions we had each day.
Since then, knowing there is always someone at the end of the phone, means HR is never on my worry list. He has updated all of our HR policies and procedures, updated our Employee Handbook, and ensured our contracts are up to date. I am confident in our HR practices and the support we offer staff. Phil asks us the challenging questions and provides the reassurance as well as guiding us through difficult situations.
I cannot recommend Phil highly enough. His support and reassurance is consistently excellent. His professionalism is notable. And he is very kind, which is the most important thing to us an organisation.
