APPRENTICE BUTCHER – Ulverston, Cumbria
Lake District Farmers are looking for an Apprentice Butcher to join their spanking brand new, busy, meat production facility in Ulverston.
The great thing about this Apprenticeship is that, not only will you be earning a wage whilst you learn, but you will also be working with, and learning from, some of the most skilled and experienced butchers in the country.
Your work will include understanding about meat from different animals and will also give you the knowledge of specialised cuts, knife skills and safe food storage. In addition, you will learn how to make the most out of a carcass – essential in maximising production – and why packaging and presentation is also critical in delivering a quality product to the Company’s clients.
Your Apprenticeship will enable you to achieve nationally recognised qualifications as well as gaining membership of the Institute of Meat (IoM).
At LDF you will be working with top quality, highly skilled butchers preparing top quality meat to high precision specifications, for top Michelin star chefs as well as some of the large London corporates.
You will do your butcher training on the job, working to complete your Butcher Apprenticeship Standard Level 2, thereafter leading to further development with the Company.
Your Apprenticeship will take 18 months to complete and on successful completion you will be awarded:
- Level 2 Food Safety Award
- Level 2 Health & Safety in the Food Chain Supply Award
- Level 2 Knife Skills Award
Whilst you don’t need to have excelled at school, you do need to have character and a strong work ethic to be considered for this wonderful opportunity. Even if you struggled with Maths and English, the Company will support you to develop both during your Apprenticeship.
This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week and your rate of pay will be above the national minimum wage.
So, are you that enthusiastic, hard-working individual that is looking for an exciting opportunity to learn a rare and highly skilled trade?
If so, please send your CV with a covering letter, explaining why you are applying for this role, to [email protected]
